I have a stainless steel base filter and have Mn oxides formed on the surface (not sure the exact form, assume MnO2). Is there a way to measure
(remove) the Mn oxides on the surface while not attacking the Mn metal in the base?
I am doing the hot NaOH (10%, 100C) extraction, and seems not dissolve the Mn oxides. Any suggestions? Should I keep try it or it will not work at
all? I was also wondering about the reduction process.
Any ideas are highly appreciated!

I thought your filter was SS, are you worried about Mn in the alloy? If so, this shouldn't hurt.
Do you wish to quantify the Mn?

Yeah, my filter is SS. ONLY remove the Mn oxides on the SS surface (Need quantify). Should NOT dissolve any Mn in the alloy.
If I use H2O2 + HCl, will it dissolve the Mn in the alloy?
