I need a new overhead stirrer... suggestions?

I'm looking for something in the 1/2 HP range, preferably with a SS shaft and dual 3-4" props cabable of stirring about 55 gallons.

Anyone know where I can get a decent setup for less than half a grand?

Try checking restaurant and or refrigeration supply stores.
I have seen some pretty good motors used in the condenser and evaporators.

There's quite a few used Lightnin mixers on eBay, but I suppose you know about that.

If you get an air-driven type you would have variable speed.

Edit: The air-drive is a bit noisy, however.

Yeah I looked at the air drive units and needless to say I was a bit unimpressed.

From what I seen it takes a heck of a lot of air to feed one of those babies... one would almost need a rotary screw air compressor to keep up.

Electric is the way to go, especially since I will be working with non-toxic non-corrosive non-flammable materials (for once!).
