I suppose I will use a glass baking pan from now on. I tested my chlorate today with sugar. It was very dissapointing. I mixed 2 parts sugar with 3
parts of my homemade chlorate. I then used a mortar and pestle to grind the mixture. It was difficult to ignite, burned yellow
instead of purple as expected, and it went out frequently as it burned extremley slowly. Whats going on here? The flame is yellow, but why would
sodium chlorate precipitate out? It's burning slowly, is this because of sodium chloride impurities? Perhaps it is still not dry enough?
