Taking a look through Wikipedia, I've noticed that all named quasicrystals are based on metals.
This makes me wonder if there are or may exist covalent and ionic compounds that can form quasicrystals.
Ionic quasicrystals would be interesting for homemade (or near homemade) quasicrystal growing, since ionic compounds are usually soluble in common
liquids, and quasicrystals can have perfect regular dodecahedrical and related symmetry shapes.
Metal-based quasicrystals needs advanced expensive equipments for making and growing (and usually reaches very small sizes).
