Cleaning a florence flask

TimApple - 16-10-2019 at 11:38

There is some (inorganic) crust on the side of my florence flask. I cant reach it with a brush and it should be aluminum salts. Any ideas on how to get it out?

Thanks, Tim

Use a strong acid like HCl, which will easily dissolve the built up salts.

You can also add soapy water and a handful of rock salt, then shake vigorously to scour the sides.

Put table sald inside the flask and shake it around. Salt is soft and won't scratch the glass but will scrub off dirt.

+1 on this...assuming 'sald' = 'salt' :)
I've done similar a couple of times.
