nichrome 80 or kanthal a1 wire.
There are a bunch of factors that go into sizing the igniter.
kanthal a1 will get hotter before melting.
you might want to look on the model rocket forums.
their igniters are very similar to what you need.

Nichrome wire. The model rocket hobby uses that.
My setup as a young boy included and 6 volt lantern
battery connected to a push button on a long cord.
There were 2 little clips to attach the switched
6 volts to the nichrome wire.
The wire was about 30 gauge size. The instructions
said to cut about a 3 inch length of the nichrome wire.
Then in about the middle of it, they said to wind
it a few turns around the end of a sharpened lead
pencil. The resulting small coil would then be
inserted into the nozzle of the rocket engine and rammed
home with a small wad of kleenex or toilet paper.
Then the two wire ends sticking out of the engine were
checked and separated to avoid a short, and then the
2 clips were attached.
It worked real good. Very reliable.
We used these ignitors for other stuff too.

I dont know if the wire HAS to be protected, I do see a lot of people coat the wires in nitro lacquer or something of the sort. XeonTheMGPony - 27-7-2020 at 03:39
Steel wool is amazing very high resistance but hard to work.
30 to 40 gauge Ni chrome is my other main usage one.
I usually dope it in a thin nitrocellulose mix then prime it while wet with my Lead Styphnate, then dip in a thicker solution up to the insulation to
glue and seal the assembly this protects it mechanically and chemically
If not making caps just use a different priming mix, by nature these are designed as a single shot device, 1mm exact gap is used, this will work with
3v if the lead wire is short enough
