Friedrichs-ish condenser...?

Hey all - I have a friend on faculty at a local uni - they were recently updating a microbio lab that they were updating, and knowing that I am a home chemistry enthusiast he snagged me a box of decommissioned glassware. Mostly it was assorted flasks, but it included a couple of these odd condensers... They look a lot like Friedrichs, but with a straight finger style water channel instead of a coil, and the bottom connections are 24/40, but the top is not ground... They are around 300mm, which seems long for an extractor reflux... Anyone have any idea what they would have been used for?

If anyone thinks they might be able to use one, let me know. They are pyrex, and in superb condition. And as much as I love hoarding glass, I'm not sure I have use for one of these, much less two, and I'd glad trade.

And apparently my picture is too big to stick up here... It will follow shortly.
