Anti-splash Adapter

Just wondering what are the pros/cons between these two types of anti-splash adapter during actual use.

I supposed the one on the left will have distillate/splash-late accumulating at the bottom.

Shouldn't there be a hole where it can leak back to boiler? It wouldn't make any sense.

I would have needed one yesterday when I was vac'ing a PITA liquid that bumped like no tomorrow even with ebulliator because of high viscosity.

The one on the right has rather choked leadway so in event of high gas or fluid flow it could cause some fluctuations.

Let's up this one. Why does the left one type adapter has no drain hole? The stuff that bumps will accumulate to the cone of the container.

In my experience the one on the left does have a small drain hole.
I have one similar, but not from deschem.

You want to make sure you aren't driving too hard on a distillation if you are using one of these.
It defeats the purpose, which is to reduce carry over of droplets.

I am not sure whether the one by deschem has drainholes or not.

Synthware, a supposedly high quality brand from China, has numerous types.

From the left pic by deschem, it looks as if there is no return holes.

Mine does not have drain holes. Doesn't this reduce the efficiency by causing some stuff pooling inside the adapter?

agreed. but this piece might actually be useful for certain types of ultra short path distillations!

All variants probably have some purpose where they are useful.
I think in some cases you just dont want a open straight path right through for reasons other than anti-splash, maybe it produces some resistance for the gas.

So does it cause pooling?
