Literature says that Carbon does not melt under ambient pressure, but sublimes at 3700 C. Over 10 GPa (100 bar) it can be molten, but is it ever done
?

A graphite cylinder can be placed in a pressure chamber filled with argon. When a strong electric current is applied at a pressure of 150 atm, the
center of the cylinder will melt. Thus, molten carbon beads with a diameter of 1-3 mm are obtained.
