Zinc acetate crystals

zinc acetate forms these weirdo freak crystals
they always have one axis of symmetry and one of the opposite ends is always
tapered with respect to the other one. I'm not really sure how they manage it

Sketch of the empirical structure. im pretty sure the facet edges are
supposed to connect to the corners but im drawin it like i see it

Nice crystals, they're very clean. What's the size of the largest crystal? How hard are they?

maybe a quarter centimeter? i've had a tough time getting them to grow this way, zinc acetate tends to be uninspired to form proper crystals (see here).

they seem to be quite soft, they have like a squeaky sort of crunch to them when i pick em up with a pair of tweezers.
