So i've bought the hottest/cheapest chilli powder off Amazon and using some roughly 88-90% ethanol and a Soxhlet extractor i've been doing an
extraction. I run through around 3-400ml of ethanol through 3x loads of chilli powder and top up at each run to account for losess.
What i'm interested in is the dark red spicy liquid seems to be separate to bright red sticky red stuff. I filter out the sticky stuff to get a dark
red liquid that doesn't create any residue on any containers.
What I wonder is, does concentrating this and filtering off any red sticky residue lose any of the capsaicin or is it purely a side product gum within
the peppers?

Surely there are some papers out there detailing this extraction that could offer some insights. Maybe you could send NileRed a message and ask him.
I got interested in extracting the active alkaloid Swainsonine from loco weed, and I found that were a few papers out there covering it, so it
wasn’t a complete mystery. You might get lucky like that.
