| Not as such but dimethyldioxirane is very useful, and technically it is mono-acetone peroxide, though idk if it actually polymerizes. i couldnt find
the source, but i swear ive read somewhere that, while DMDO only forms in concentrations up to 2% in the reaction mixture, its in an equillibrium with
the acetone, oxone and possibly also TATP so for some reactions, its more like the acetone is functioning as a catalyst as long as the reagent to be
oxidized is compatible with oxone and TATP, and in a 1-pot reaction it doesnt react with either. |
