Is it possible extract thujone with acetone from wormwood?

This is really weird...

Yesterday, I was trying to locate the Thuja/absinthe connection with Van Gough. The Wiz sent an article about this years ago to me.

I would imagine something more aromatic would be better than a ketone; I believe it is close to camphor.

Maybe.

Sage oil may be a better feedstock since it contains 25-40% thujones.
There are alpha and beta isomers, apparently.

Here is an informative article on sage oil.

If you're considering making absinthe, note that it contains under 10ppm
thujone since the solution is decocted from dried wormwood blossoms.

For more absinthe info, search on Ted Breaux.

Very interesing article. Its not for absinthe (this time :) ) i am interesed in alkoloids (technically thuyone is not alkoloid :D).
