I'm not sure on this but could one may be able use aspirin, sulfuric acid and oxalic acid. Using a standard esterfication reaction procedure.
however I am not sure that the other functional groups on aspirin's benzene ring would be removed.

The reaction generally used is phenol + oxalyl chloride together with a non water producing base like diethylamine. Reactions of this nature are used
to make the active compounds in lightsticks.

Yep thats want i want to do..Make my own lightsticks! But unfortunately i
can't find phenols and such organic compounds. Sigh, i will have to shelve this idea
