FTP, and Other Information.

Eliteforum - 13-4-2004 at 10:38

The old FTP thread has/will be deleted, as again there was a lot of clutter collecting.

As many of you may have noticed when the FTP is offline it is either due to me adding new hardware, or problems with the OS.

As a last result I've concluded that Windows XP Pro is NOT a good choice for hosting the server.

So I am switching Operating Systems.

This isn't expected to take long, an hour or two at the most.

Please bear with me while I implement these changes. You will still have your old username/passwords.

But if you wish to change either of them, (password/username) please contact me via U2U and that will be done for you.

Thanks for your time and patience. I will post a reply here once the FTP is back online.

In all likeness once the FTP is back online there will be a change of IP address, due to me having to re-register my network and the rest of it.

Anyways, back to the grind.

Linux?

avtr01 - 13-4-2004 at 14:53

First off, I want to say thank you for providing the ftp service. It is a great rescource

from what I read, am I right to say that we can't download anything unless we have some books to contribute?

There must be some way that we are able to download just some of the small stuff (>1mb)

Thanks

MilordB - 13-4-2004 at 23:46

Thanx for all the time you invest in keeping up the server.

Could it be possible to separate real full books from articles and other small stuff
This would enhance the efficency.

Kindly,
MilordB

I'm quite sure that I have already uploaded that and it is located in the 'Ebooks' directory. I could be wrong since I cannot connect to the FTP at the time of this posting :(

Norton SystemWorks 2004 Pro (ISO) has also been uploaded.

I'm not dead!

Sorry about the down-time. My ISP's hardware through which I get my 'net access has died.

And they've taken their time getting me a replacement.

I get a new replacement on this Thursday coming.

I was tempted to buy the hardware myself, but I got angry at the manager on the phone, so he gave me a month free for the "problems caused". So I can't complain.

But a big sorry for the problems! Fingers crossed it wont happen again!

Is there a version of Chemwindow on the FTP?

If not, does anybody have acces to a working version?

Eliteforum - 23-4-2004 at 12:25

Sorry for the downtime, Internet access restored. But my CPU(s) have fried. Another is on it's way as it's still under warranty.

I will post back here ASAP when the FTP is back online. Very sorry for the downtime.

You have the right person. What can I help you with?

The_Davster - 1-5-2004 at 22:56

Does anyone have a copy of this book that they would be willing to upload to the FTP? http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=14...

vulture - 2-5-2004 at 05:43

At the price it's currently worth I say it's a bargain.

I think a period copy would be worth something, but with reprints they are in trouble, which is why they're auctioning them.

hmm?

Hermes_Trismegistus - 4-5-2004 at 20:31

every time I try to access the ftp it shuts my computer down.

(current browser windows go not responding)

Organikum - 7-5-2004 at 03:45

You should use an ftp-client when accessing a ftp server.

Free and good:

SmartFTP
at
http://www.smartftp.com

I was.

No shit, eh? I wouldn't trust XP with handling flushing my toilet.
