I love wipeout!

And it seems some boys in Japan do too. They're been having fun with superconductors and liquid nitrogen in an attempt to build a real world version of the game.

Yeh Wipeout is awesome, that and ghost hunters is the only thing I can get all three of my kids to chill out and watch without getting side tracked. Ghost hunters they just get to scared to leave my side though:D

lol I didnt even watch the video, here in the states wipeout is a funny ass TV show where people abuse themselves for the possibility of 50 grand

Seen that video elsewhere and believe it's a hoax, due to the unnatural behaviour og the "fog" of frozen water vapour. Plus the vehicles seem to have no mass/momentum and abuptly stops and reverses in the beginning of the video.

I agree it would be cool but couldn't find a source for the video so I'm sceptic...

Fake.

NOOOOOOOOO! :D

I not only don't have a Wipeout Scalextric to look forward to, I have been rick rolled by Sony.

The video does look odd, the way the object flow so smoothly. But superconductors do look odd when levitating and the vapour flows in strange ways, rapidly disappearing.

However, someone else has spotted the dead give away that it's CG. At 1:14 as the cars go round the bend, the trail from the yellow car can be seen through the back of the track.

I wish the world wasn't so strictly fact based at times.

Anyway, I could delete this but I'm sure it'll provide some lols for others, so up it can stay as an example of trickery, unless the mods would prefer it in the bin.

it seems odd you dont see any magnets under the track

peach - 4-1-2012 at 20:06

There are some in that piece they hold up to the camera, and they're visible on the start length when showing the full track.

I was willing to believe they could have hidden them in the rest of the track.

Bastards... If I ever meet a Sony employee I'll have to rick roll them in person - they've probably got the latest in anti-roll technology installed on their email addresses.

...how do you rick-roll a person face to face?

peach - 4-1-2012 at 21:35

Easy, follow this video tutorial which definitely isn't a video of Rick Astley.

Neil - 4-1-2012 at 21:40

but face to face? "hello there, why yes I do smell like seaweed, but what is really important right now is that you look at this screen and click on this link. What who said anything about a weapon?..."

Edit: Doh, I clicked on it to see if it was in fact...nvm
