Paste

How could you disolve a paste?

barley81 - 26-3-2012 at 06:42

What kind of paste? Paste for gluing things together? Toothpaste? A paste of dangerous chemicals?

a paste like what would be found in pen ink

barley81 - 26-3-2012 at 06:47

An organic solvent like toluene or dichloromethane should dissolve pen ink (from a ballpoint pen). Acetone may also work.

pen ink or the paste i dont want to decompose it all

barley81 - 26-3-2012 at 06:49

There's both paste and pen ink? Be more specific and clear. What exactly are you trying to do?

Are you trying to get the ink out of a pen?

Really you are not making a lot of sense.

Yank off the tip of the ink tube. Blow the ink out into something.

Bot0nist - 26-3-2012 at 07:25

Do you mean the clear gel that sits above, and hold the ink in place in the larger width pen tubes?

barley81 - 26-3-2012 at 07:32

If that's the case, just take a paperclip, bend it, and scoop the gel out. Take a tissue and wipe the inside of the tube if you want to be perfect.

if you are talking about the paste on the top of gel pen ink then just remove the nib of pen then blow the air in refill slowly such that ink only fall out that paste is still in refill. now get a beaker now in it point the pen refill and just blow air your paste will be in it .dissolve it in anything you want like toluene, ethanol

He missed the cardinal rule of paste: Don't eat the paste.

no ink consists of 4 main ingredients a colorant, vehicle, paste and carrier substance i want to get rid of the paste

stygian - 27-3-2012 at 06:13

i always thought vehicle *was* the carrier substance. Paste? perhaps in a lake dye but then that would be more of a paint no? The paste you refer to may indeed be the vehicle.

marko - 27-3-2012 at 13:09

I think the vehicle, paste, and carrier substance are one in the same...

Try and find something the 'paste' isn't soluble in, but the color is.. or vice versa. assuming the paste isn't the color as well.
