I want to deposit V2O5 over glass slide....and all i have is V2O5 powder....but the problem here is that i want to deposit by SOL GEL method....and i am confused over which solvent to use for dissolving V2O5....no acids please....

if you find success please post it, as catalytic films are valuable.

i might try sintering the V205 at 900

got success or no ?

The sol gel process is not simply a matter of dissolving V2O5 and evaporating a solution, even if you had a solvent.

Sol gel is a subtle, stepwise transition quite different from simple evaporation, sintering, etc.

The sol gel process depends on appropriately functionalized atoms, like the Si in tetraethylorthosilicate. These alkoxy derivatives are slowly hydrolyzed, often with a templating agent added in, to form 3 dimensional structures. Through successive dehydrations and condensations and then by a final heat treatment, the lattice approaches SiO2 but maintains internal structure.

Vanadium tetrabutoxide is what you need to make VO2 films. You won't get there easily from V2O5.
