Welcome our newest troll : Bummer

Bot0nist - 7-10-2012 at 08:31

 For those of you that missed it, new member bummer, the self proclaimed asshole had a lot of fun last night. He spammed dozens of threads with jems including picures of mutilated women, piles of human shit, and wrecked, asian vaginas, along with other incomprehinsible dribble. While the mess he made has been cleaned up, the asshole himself remains.

I know we are about second chances and attitude correction, but in some cases, is a perma-ban warrented?

I saw some of the wreckage. There appears to be nothing science-related in his postings. Therefore neither he nor we would be any the poorer if he were to be limited to posting elsewhere. In other words, ban the sucker.

Often times it makes more sense to leave them around so you can see right where they are. Banning a pest may simply inspire them to return under a new username.

Ultimately, it seems unlikely that he will be anything more than a transient nuisance. Unless there's a personal vendetta at work, eventually he'll leave out of boredom. Responding or getting upset simply provides a reward for bad behavior and typically prompts another streak of idiocy.

As the old adage goes: Don't feed the trolls.

"Dont feed the trolls."

So true, and i see your point. I was thinking an IP ban, but proxies would get around this. Holmes/dawson all over agian. Perhaps it just loggesd back in today to check on the effects of its mayhem.

He probably has gotten out of bed yet.

Lol bot0nist. you told me that yesterday :P I bet he will be disappointed that all his posts have mysteriously disappeared.
At least he fulfilled his name though.

I think we should ban him, his only chemistry related post was asking for some explosive recipe and he didn't get it. that must have made him mad.

PS: damn, speak of the devil!

It would be nice if it were possible to simply hide someones posts from everyone else. It would maintain the illusion for him that he is messing up the forum, thus keep him from coming back under a different name, while at the same time allowing the rest of us to enjoy our forum without vandalism.

Bot0nist - 8-10-2012 at 08:28

And he is banned. Thank science.
And thank you mods for always quickly handling these little turds. SciMad would be a much darker place without you.

I am sure he will be back though...

Hexavalent - 8-10-2012 at 09:59

Yes, the Bot and I encountered him yesterday. Said he was speaking 'Javanese'...but odd that he continued to do so, even though he demonstrated fairly good English.

i for 1 absolutely hate these kind of trolls, all they do is just waste valuable space on forms, i wish there was some kind of tech that could just spam the heck out of the spammer if that even made sense

my YT: http://www.youtube.com/user/Triopmaster12 if anyone wants it :P

Hexavalent - 9-10-2012 at 13:02

That would make us as bad as him. We deal with them, and move on: if we spammed him back, then he'd likely just come here and spam a whole lot more.
