Silica Aerogel Ambient Pressure

I heard of a synthesis of molybdenum oxide aerogel that took place at ambient pressure. I had heard of such things but never seen empirical evidence.

I was wondering if such an ambient synthesis could be done with silica aerogel? It would eliminate the need for a autoclave and large amounts of CO2 or methanol.

Don't know if any of you would know something about this topic.
