i just finished up puritying piperine from black pepper with my chromatography column. But i now have about 80g of "dirty" (which means that its still
white, but is probably covered in contaminates) silica media.
How should i go about cleaning this? just keep rinsing in a solvent like acetone? it seems like a waste... and expensive
thanks,
Alex

Since silica is considered to be a polar medium, why not try flushing the silica column with solvents that are more polar, e.g. MeOH or EtOH?TheChemINC - 19-2-2013 at 17:09
its not that i am having troulble separating all of the other crap from it, i just dont feel like spending alot of money on a gallon or two of acetone
to wash it....fez - 22-2-2013 at 07:55
