Food safe desiccant to separate water and ethanol

nimbus8 - 12-6-2013 at 09:53

Ive been looking at several desiccants and was wondering what your guys opinion on the matter was.

Im currently leaning towards silica because the silica di-oxide can be converted back by heating.

Or gypsum but it doesn't look like gypsum anhydrous is absorbent enough to break the aezeratope.

There are several threads dedicated to this exact topic but here ill help you.
For removing water from ethanol use a 3A molecular sieve.

Read this also about sieves. It gives you a few resources to check out.

WOW! Thank you very much for that, and from how it looks these can be completely regenerated by heating to 450f is that correct?

Your welcome and yes they can be completely restored by heating, sometimes it is tricky but eventually they lose the water.
