It seems to me that Cimetidine, brand name Tagamet, could make for a energetic precursor.
I would think that the 2-cyano-1-methyl guanidine moiety would be somewhat energetic itself. I also assume that the imidazole ring could be somewhat
energetic as well. Would it be possible to nitrate this or otherwise modify it to a detonatable structure?
I wonder how it might work using cimetidine as a fuel in a sprengel explosive.
Obviously not cost effective, but that's not my interest.
