Does benzyne undergo syn-addition? The synthesis I have in mind is the formation of catechol (1, 2- hydroxybenzene) through benzyne. What I have in
mind is something like chlorobenzene and NaOH, then reacted with cold KMnO4. Or start from phenol and H2SO4 to form benzyne. Basically, benzyne with
KMnO4.
