AP vs TNP (grab some popcorn)

I was curious, we all know some R.E. figures from wikipedia or other sources, but what happens in practice.
Please bet for something and watch:

you looked awfully close to that last explosion, were you viewing from inside a bunker or something?

With thick safety glasses, behind the camera screen I didn't feel too intimidated by this energy deprived firecracker :/

What is missing in this test is the loading density of each explosive which is very important since detonation performance depend on crystalline density. at least you should compare the 2 explosive @ theoretical maximum density (TMD). We know that picric acid has better performance than triacetone peroxide so why wasting time in comparing the two explosive?

second, to be able to compare between the 2 you should use the same witness plate (in your case the metal tube). If the tube were from different source the results (depth of dent) may change.

Both hammered in the tube with a risk of accident. Both at reasonable for hobbyist density. The tubes are the same kind and look same thickness. The experiment is more like an illustration, nothing too solid. If we seek serious comparison, there are very nice books.

Epic introduction of the AP test with the "taliban" soundtrack from "Generals". Very predictable results indeed.
p.s.
Dany, relax a bit :)

well Ral123,

this test serve as a beautiful illustration for the power of picric acid compared to acetone peroxide but no meaningful conclusion can be drawn.

Never hammer a sensitive energetic. Press them behind a blast shield.

Thanks, entertainment is first with my channel.

I take measures not to get hurt in case the thing blows up. The only way an amateur can really press is if he has a vice with large length of movement.
