Quantitative Analysis

Psycho - 3-11-2002 at 21:15

Hello. I know I haven't posted in a long time but I had other things to do.

I am wondering if anyone has come across a good site which has information on quantitative analysis. I am looking for one that includes an introduction if possible.

Thanks. :)

quantitative analysis

quantitative analysis of what? or do you mean qualitative analysis.
if it is quantitative analysis, titrations are easy to set up, calibrate the burette using distilled water + balance, the thinner the tube the more accurate, make one standard solution taking the best stuff you have got (acid or base or thiosulphate etc) and callibrate everything against that. To check an end point you can use a two decimal point oven thermometer ie no temp rise. If you repeat it three times and the results are + or _ a bit then you are very close.
If you want to do quanitative analysis using a GLC then that is a bit more complicated, but the principles are the same, put the stuff though and measure the temp. change and it tells you when something is coming out, and if the information can be transferred to your computer then you end up with a time/temp graph which will tell you a lot.
