replacement for asbestos paper?

Does anyone have any suggestions for a good replacement for asbestos paper in this particular case?

You could probly use some kind of ceramic fiber based paper. Like alumina silica fiber paper, or just plain silica fiber paper. They should work fairly well as a replacment for asbestos paper in that procedure.

The usual replacement for asbestos is fiberglass. For insulation, use the various cloths used in the composite. For filtration, get glass filter paper, something with a glass frit, or you might be able to get away with fiberglass insulation with the binder removed.

Perhaps something like engine exhaust header wrap.
Though that might insulate a bit too well.

Maybe just regular ol' fiberglass cloth like neutrino mentioned. It's availible in no end of weaves and such.
