How stable are nitronate salts in solution?

Leben - 16-9-2014 at 15:53

The only information I can find about the shock-explosive capacity of nitronate salts has talked about when they are dry. Are these salts fairly safe (nitropropane/butane) to form in an aqueous solution? I want to attempt an addition to an alkyl halide, but not if there is an explosion risk.

(yes I searched before posting)

I was tinkering with potassium nitrate recently and wondering the same thing..

EDIT: I misread the title, sorry. Thought you said nitrate salts.
