Acetone --> diacetone alcohol

happyman - 10-10-2005 at 11:40

I have a volume of 99.7% purity acetone with the balance of water and diacetone alcohol.

Repeated analysis over the last two months have indicated that the DAA levels are increasing. What can be done to stop/slow this. Does heat or exposure to light encourage this reaction? Thanks for any help.

Here is some info on Acetone it seems a dry and cool area will slow down the degradation......but then check out the info........solo

Oh my.

This topic is not about making acetone. Acetone can be bought for nearly nothing and cheap too. You can impossibly beat the price with homemade acetone.

Furthermore, you need to read a decent thermodynamics book.
