Analogues to the haloform reaction

In this thread the haloform reaction is discussed at length. What I'm wondering is whether you could use a similar reaction to produce the other "forms" (nitroform, cyanoform, etc). My interest in this is largely theoretical, since I'm not keen on messing with, e.g., cyanogen at this time, but I'm wondering if it would work if you used, say, cyanide/cyanate instead of chloride/hypochlorite. I presume that nitroform would have to be made in some other manner (or would a nitrite group rearrange to form a nitro?)
