According to Wikipedia you con make fluoroform by the reaction of iodoform and mercury/calcium fluoride. Can i subsitute the mercury/calcium fluoride with Sodium fluoride :) can some try out the reaction i tell the result

Why don't you try it out and tell US about the result?

Take a wild guess? ;)

I strongly suspect that coordination of the iodide to the mercury is part of the reason for using it, but that's just my hunch.

What can you do with fluoroform for anyway; apart from terraforming Mars?

Considering that it's a gas at room temp, probably not a great deal.

Just off the top of my head you can use base to make CF[sub}3- ions which could be of some use. Maybe in making trifluoroethanol with reaction with formaldehyde? Oxidation of that to CF3COOH? would be an interesting possibility.
