I made storm glasses last year and they were a hit... this year I've made my friends + relatives some 'magic rocks' kits, out of sodium silicate solution and a couple small samples of metal salts.

Hey Rosco Bodine, I agree with you, the Cambridge choir is awesome. I grew up with Christmas hymns. For me, religious faith inspires me to do science... to learn about the world we live in because it is wonderfully ordered like clockwork!
Anyway, thank you everyone for another wonderful year of science-madness. I have learned so much and you inspire me to keep experimenting and discovering just how interesting our world is.

I have been a fan of Rutter for thirty years and it was a Christmas present for me to check the Collegium page and discover I was the viewer #2 on the download count for the BBC live feed being uploaded from Cambridge, which I figured meant the sound tech was probably the other viewer ....I mean what are the odds! The digital eavesdropper in the cathedral rafters was me!

This is an old family Christmas tradition that goes back to a floor standing vacuum tube shortwave hi fi radio cabinet about four feet tall that would be tuned in to BBC for the Christmas broadcast. Out of all the people on earth, checking for a digital feed, I get a front row seat! The odds are like hitting the lottery.

There is a God! Thank you Jesus!

I got a prepackaged world view, but first I had to go the library and check out and read a thousand books on scientific subjects with comprehension, so I could better appreciate the depth of my Christmas present. As it turned out I was over thinking the whole scenario and behind all the seeming complexity, it was simply love all the time, even before the illusion of time. Boy did I feel dumb. Some things never change huh.
