Hi everyone.
In this video, I am making sodium acetate by neutralizing glacial acetic acid with the sodium hydroxide solution.
According to Wikipedia, this is an industrial method of sodium acetate production.

Hi, its good to see a new Chemstry youtube channel, i hope you continue with it and that it grows into something great :)
Just a friendly word of advice though, i expect that you would get more responses to your thread if you posted some kind of a question.

Nice video !

The shot of the crystallisation is beautiful.

Definitely better than the last video - your cinematography skills are improving rapidly.

Critiques (say 'shut up asshole' if they are not required/desired) :-

Shiny background reflects the lighting a bit much.
If there's no talking, print up some more words.
Watch for contrast - white words on a white background etc.

P.S. where do all you utoob guys buy those everlastingly CLEAN hotplate/stirrers ?

Thank you, I hope it will become something but the perspective isn't great.
However, having people commenting and liking my videos is a good enough reward for me)

Thanks, obviously I have plenty of improvement to make but hearing people say that my videos are getting better is very motivating:)

About the magnetic stirrer, well I am just looking after it really well, but it already has some permanent stains.

I was hoping you'd say that you use a Stunt Stirrer for the dangerous scenes ;)

Sounds like a plan, but I rarely do anything that can easily get out of control. :)

Sure I am always open for new ideas.

Nice video! Good luck on your channel.

minuses

Not square on and angle slightly off, makes it a little odd to view.

HATE the writing on a non plain background!!

Pluses

All the rest of it :D, crystals came out great! Videos are not as easy at it looks. I tried a few weeks ago and my efforts looked crap!!

Well done for giving it a go and look forward to seeing more.

Hi, thank you for a good advice, I was planning to change the text to voice but I came up with many complications. I have a lack of knowledge regarding the voice recording technique and a lack of time to do a research.
Also, I don't have an acceptable voice recording equipment and the headphone-mic set that I bought for tenner is not suitable )
In any case, I am working on it and hopefully, soon enough I will be able to make my videos much better or much worse :)

I would think adding voice and editing would add alot of time to the process, text is ok as long as its visible and as long as its on screen long enough to read twice.

The reason to read twice is because if you write something then you know what it says, so when reading it back you read it alot quicker than someone seeing it for the first time :D.

Download the tips and tricks sheet from Chemplayer, you dont have to use the system but there are alot of good tips in it.

Staggering the quality of phone cameras now!

Adding vinegar to common baking soda (or washing soda) makes NaOAc:

NaHCO3 + HOAc = H2O + NaOAc + CO2 (g)

The product should be relatively pure since NaHCO3 and vinegar are both food grade, and certainly safe and cheap.

See the home made preparation option in the second video per the link provided in the opening thread. To obtain a purer product, do not boil down the solution. Try adding pure NaCl and then freeze out the NaOAc.3H2O (I have yet to confirm if this works, and if so, without some chloride presence).

Hi, I know it can be prepared with vinegar and sodium carbonate/bicarbonate I also provided the link in the video description to NurdRage's video.
Personally, I like to follow the industrial processes when possible.
