Ace Glass 5225 Adapter, Distilling Trap?

Help please!
I was givin one as a donation, could someone explain WHEN this is useful? Ive never seen this used, but i have seen a simular item on roto vaps, not usefull to me if this is for such a machine. many thanks for any help. best of luck to all.

Helps keep foam from reactions that can severly foam, out of the condensor.

So id put this between the adapter coming off the flask im boiling and into the condensor. thanks very much! i wont put it in "dungeon" storage then. may be handy.

Also can be used as fractionating bulb, anti-entrainment separator and steam/condensate trap.

Similar to these come in several configurations.

When simple distilling it is often the case that a much
higher boiling component of a mixture will carry-over into
the vapors of a lower boiling component Distilling
too fast or bumping also cause entrainment.

This can sometimes be seen as a mist. A Claisen
sidearm or a simple screen mesh will reduce entrainment.
