Copper nanoparticle size/density/mass manipulation

13enigma - 15-12-2017 at 20:59

I have some copper colloids and managed to make a gel out of them in an attempt to create copper wrap for my child's project. So far I have not been successful in the copper gel route so I remade the colloidal copper nanoparticles. How can I make the size/mass/density o the nanoparticles greater so that I can create copper wrap from them and wires, perhaps even a coin? I wish to do this without increasing the concentration of copper meaning I don't want to add more nanoparticles into the solution I want to increase what I already have. How can I do this?

I think your problem is with your capping agent. Specifically, the one next to your "A" key.

Could you elaborate. I would appreciate it

Ummm. I have successfully purchased copper-leaf at "Michael's" craft supply store, here in Portland. Am I misunderstanding you?

I'm trying to help my child in creating a scientific method for production.

How can you increase what you have without adding to it?

Or do you mean..
Wrap = conductive sheet/whatever?

increase= make bigger sheet without adding more copper?

Is this an expensive thing? If so whats our cut?

I'm trying to increase particle size immensely.

Only way to increase the size of particle is to add to it. Or make do with fewer particles and use some the material to increase the size of the rest.

Probably need to do it electrically, but not much info to go on.
