When i first started i imagined you could just bubble air into water.

Doesn't work.

The pathways to H2O2 are hideously non-trivial.

Except the hydrogen peroxide oxidizes the hydroquinone to p-benzoquinone, or what I like to call 'bastard hell crystals'

I assume that a little surgery would be required for each beetle to separate the two before extraction.
but I have no beetle-ass surgery experience so I could be wrong.

I've always wanted someone to try making Hydrogen peroxide from Barium Oxide -> peroxide, etc. Not a real fan of Barium compounds but the reaction was in my old chem textbook and it seemed interesting enough.
