Iron oxide/aluminum igniter fo precussion caps

ray Jeronis - 16-7-2018 at 14:50

Thermite and flash powder at a mixture of 50/50 to 25/75 makes a good impact explosive for percussion caps. Thermite is iron(3) oxide at one mole and aluminum (500 mesh) are stable thermally at low temperatures, but they generate sparks when struck by a hammer on an anvil. That spark can be used to ignite flash powder made from a mix of potassium perchlorate at one mole and aluminum (500 mesh) at 2 moles. The higher the thermite in the mix the greater the sensitivity to impact, but the lower to explosive force. The 25 % thermite mix is the least sensitive, but the explosive force is greater. When manganese dioxide is added to the flash mix the effects are even greater. The powers that be are always looking for ways to incapacitate our ability to practice our rights of self determination. When we realize that our rights are built on the delarations in our constitution. The first ammendment is the foundation which carry those that came later. The second ammendment is the key to etermal freedom of our people.

Don't think the PTB need to try very hard in your case?

Go ahead and reload a spent primer with such a mixture, I bet you a dollar it will not even go off let alone ignite the powder of a cartrige in a reliable and consistent manner.

There are many compounds and mixtures that will work for ammunition primers but flash/thermite mixtures are probably not one of them.
I tried various things and armstrongs mix was the best in terms of reliability and easily sourced materials.

In reality you'd be much better off buying reloading components or simply buying bulk quantities of ammunition. Bottom of the barrel ammo like Tula is much better than anything you could produce from scratch.

I see where you're coming from but in our current climate in the US it makes more sense to stockpile the cheap and readily available commercial products now than to worry about making homemade junk later.

or good old fulminated metals, like copper fulminate, or \Styphnic acid and excetra, making the proper chems is easy and effective as compared with coming up with poor performing crap that will leave you in a very sad state if ever actually needed

Armstrongs mix. It can be made from a matchbox and some matches.
