solubility of filter paper im phosphorus trichloride/1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane

Hello

Has anyone ever observed coffee filters or filter paper dissolving in mixtures of tetrachloroethane and phosphorus trichloride or in these substances separately?

When attempting to filter an impure mixture of the phosphorus trichloride, methyl chloride, and aluminum trichloride complex through both basic filter paper (2 sheets) and 2 coffee filters on two separate occasions, I observed what seemed to be the filter paper becoming torn and portions of it disappearing.

You're introducing a mixture containing chlorinating agents for hydroxyl groups and powerful, water-reactive lewis acids to cellulose which is a polymer of glucose and covered in hydroxyl groups. Use glass wool instead
