Video Periodic Table

I came across this item on "The Register" today;

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/07/16/video_periodic_table...

The comments to The Register item are worth reading, as usual!

The item refers to a series of videos made by the Department of Chemistry at the University of Nottingham. Each video concerns the properties of one element. The videos are replete with an entertaining cast of eccentric English "boffins". Enjoy!

Very interestingly!
Do you know where it is possible to look experiences in organic chemistry?

Whilst not being purely organic in nature, Woelen's site;

http://woelen.homescience.net/science/chem/exps/index.html

and Leeds University;

http://www.chem.leeds.ac.uk/delights/texts/

are two which you should visit. In fact, many of the University Chemistry Department sites have demonstrations of various types.

Try GOOGLEing "organic chemistry laboratory demonstrations" you should get a few hits.

I recall visiting a site last year which had very high quality demonstrations, I think it was based in Switzerland or another central European country. Unfortunately I have lost the web address, someone on this forum may recall it however!

Edit: Changed link to Woelen's site, see his post below.

My website is mainly inorganic, but it has some organic stuff as well. The index3 page can better not be used anymore. I made a completely new index of my experiments:

http://woelen.homescience.net/science/chem/exps/index.html

The index3 page will disappear in the near future, it is not maintained anymore. New experiments will be added only to the new indexing system.

EDIT(woelen): Modified links, such that they work again.

Yes, that's the place DerAlte, but now its all in German. I can't figure out how to navigate it and find the videos. Previously they had an English version, I particularly liked the nitrogen trichloride preparation video ... :D

I cannot enter the experiment section of that webpage, it asks for a username/password. For me the German language is no problem, but there are more hurdles to be taken ;)

Sorry, you are right, Woelen. It used to be open and there was an English version.
Much like the Leeds U. site.
