I spilled a little bit of sulfur the other day. It definitely does have a little bit of a sulfurous smell. It's not so bad at low levels, but I
definitely wouldn't want to smell it all the time.

I have posted in this thread before, but I want to add two natural smells that I am not sure have been mentioned.
Tomato plant stems
Mint leaves
Both are heavenly...

Worst smells
I've worked with a good amount of malodorants, however none of them contained Sulfur/Sulphur (I have make the sulfur oxides tho). Mostly Chlorine and
nitrogen.
What I've made:
Chloropicrin
Aniline
Phenyl Isocyanate
Methyl Hypochlorite
Mono, Di, and Trimethylamines
Cl, Br, and I Acetones
Diiodoacetylene, Dibromoacetylene
Acrylic acid
SO2 + SO3
Elemental Cl + Br
Borane + Silane + Phosphine
Hydrogen Halides, other mineral acids
And more, but it's too early to go through the mental filing cabinets 
Going to make:
Phenyl IsocyanIDE - This or next week (wish me luck)
Bromo & Iodopicrins - This year
Sulfur Mono+Dichlorides - ?
H2S - ?

It was recently pointed out to me that the smell of chlorine has a distinct pineapple character; I can not unsmell this now.

Not sure what it was exactly, but during an electrosynthesis of boron, using a small metal tin and copper electrodes to hold borax/boric oxides/boric
acid, after a while there began to evolve a peculiar smell, like sour, really badly gone off milk, faint, but sickening, a real gutwrencher, could
only smell it near the cell, but my god, was it ever foul.
Kind of metallic-rotten milk or yoghurt, that set my teeth on edge being near it, like metal fumes do.
Any ideas what it might have been?
Another couple of favourites-lower nitroparaffins, and benzaldehyde. And the change in odor if condensing same, goes from marzipan/almond to more
distinctly cherry bakewell tart.
And another that I've come rather to like, triethylenetetramine (base), its got a faint, but sweetish-sickly kind of odor that seems like it should be
unpleasant, but isn't.
Really dislike IPA, and the smell of molten lead. the latter is disgusting.
And alkali metal hydroxides, subtle but nasty, when aerosolized by exothermic heating on addition to water. NaOH, KOH, etc. smell quite unpleasant.

Ah! I know in some third world countries, they're using ClO2 in an effort to wipe out malaria and mixing it with pineapple juice in areas where it is
plentiful.
I've had a 6+6 in a small amount of plain water and didn't think it was all that bad - it smells a lot worse than it tastes - but in pineapple juice,
you can't even taste it. It just sort of tastes like concentrated pineapple juice. That's really interesting!

Myclobutanil has a really nice smell to it, almost my No.1 favorite smell

Also I have a bottle of unlabeled crystalline material in my lab from the previous guy, no idea what it is but it smells bad as hell

As a follow-up, the formylated product actually smells rather nice (relatively)! It has a similar bitter, burnt note but with a considerable
sweetness- I guess a cinnamon-like "spiciness".
Pincacol alcohol isn't too bad, but what little I picked up of the bisboronate while handling is nowhere near as pleasant. I can't describe it,
though.
If we don't study the mistakes of the future we're doomed to repeat them for the first time.

Haha love that description. Googled it and they really do look unusually like a- never mind...
Yea a never mind look to them. Taken about a month ago in my front yard. There were a ton more black flies on it but they flew off when the camera was
near. A thousand pardons ... a strange creation to be sure.
