LiOH broken bottle

Hi.

I bought LiOH on the internet and today I picked up box with it in a post. I opened it and plastic bottles with NiSO4 and KBr was okay, but glass bottle with LiOH was cracked at the bottom despite it was more packed than plastic bottles. LiOH is one big piece and I can't get it out of the bottle. Any ideas what I'll do with it? Carefully break bottle and smash LiOH with a hammer (of course with goggles and respirator)?

Is the glass bottle requested by you? I don't think LiOH should be transported in glass as they may react. Ask the seller to package them in plastic bottles next time.

I was surprised that is it in glass bottle. I know that hydroxides is stored in plastic bottles because they reacted with glass. This LiOH is obviously made in Soviet union because on the bottle was old label with azbuka. Seller probably sell old stock chemicals. NiSO4 is in old bottle made in Czechoslovakia (I know this type of bottles very well because in my former school is many chemicals in it). Only KBr is in new bottle.

I guess this one: aukro.cz/hydroxid-lithny-1-5-kg-6949160005
Old LiOH like this will be always caked in one big lump, but it is probably nothing wrong with hydroxide even with broken glass.

Yes, this is it. I know that hydroxide is OK, there is only problem how to get it out easily. I alerted the seller to be more careful about it next time. This isn't his fault - Czech Post isn't very careful with handling packages. The seller packed bottle with LiOH very good. But even through good packing was bottle broken because of rough handling of the package.
