How lucky am I ?

Two days ago a relative of my wife dropped around,
she heard that I like chemistry,
and wondered if I would like some old stuff that she brought with her ;

(the balance is for scale only)
lucky.jpg - 525kB

A 5L two-neck PYREX rbf (34/35 and 19/26), tar stains but no scratches

A 5L 700W heating mantle

3 retort stands with a 4-finger clamp each, aluminium rods and boss clamps

Maybe later she will find the 'tubes' that went with the above :D
(condenser and column or Dean-Stark from description)
_____________________________________________
I did a quick test ; 3L water in 5L rbf, c1 hour to get to boil, and c1.25L boiled off during the next hour.
_____________________________________________
I will probably use this rbf for recovering solvents and some diy EtOH as I gave away all of my liquids in UK.

Can't wait to see the "tubes". The mantle is a beaut.

Edit.
Uh. That was "tubes", not "rubes". Curse my typing skills.

Really nice gift !
I hope you have a place to stash it.

Nice find.

5 liter 2-neck and 34/35 top joint is also a common size for short path setups (at least here in California), so the 'tubes' might end up being a vacuum jacketed short path head.

Edit: Glad you told us the balance was in there for scale.

I was assuming you just put a scale in the picture to give the composition balance.

I chuckled.

You're very lucky! I bet this flask would do well with a big fractionating column and a nice still head...

Nice. Whose was it all, and what kind of chemistry did they do?

It was from a Bus company that went bust.
The glassware was used to test 'oil' (diesel, lubricating, transmission, or brake fluids.
(which is why I guess a Dean-Stark setup)

I've been looking at 34/35 glassware availability and cost :(
I'll get a 34/35 to 24/29 adapter and use my existing accesories.

A bus company? Interesting - I would never have guessed that.
