Obtaining lecture bottles?
I was wondering where one could get lecture bottles for gasses like Cl2, SO2 or even just H2. It seems like a practical way to get gasses for a
reaction, especially for anhydrous conditions, in a bottle small enough that a leak wouldn't be nearly as dangerous as a big cylinder, provided they
are not extremely hard to get.
I guess toxic gasses would be very hard to acquire, but I haven't seen any at all except for noble gasses or CO2 for welding. Where should I look?

I agree, many time it is just as easy to produce them as you need them, I even prefer to produce HCl(g) gas instead of pouring
HCl(aq) into the mix.

You'll find a cylinder of any gas u want on alibaba.com
I could also get pretty much any gas (apart from methylamine/ammonia/hcn)
from a local gas retailers if I sign up for an account.

hm there are a few stories about serious accidents with these bottles involving toxic gasses and corrosion, failing regulators etc. They need to be
maintained especially with corrosive gasses like HCl or Cl2. I at least am happy to not have around more of poisonous gases than absolutely necessary

In the U.S., every town of any size, has a specialty gas company. They will have things like H2, and inert gases, Propane, and Acetylene. Cl2 and
other poisonous gases, might easier be generated, on site.
Small metal cylinders can be purchased at Harbor Freight. At least around here.
OK, I just checked. Local HF doesn't list such tanks right now.

I recently asked for some SF6 at the commerical mob here in Victoria. Its used in some medical procedures and is available but not to individuals.
Bit odd really as it so fucking inert it may as well be argon.
Oh thats right...lecture bottles, i have collected many over the years by leaving $20 at local scrap yards and asking for them to keep a few as they
come in...heaps come in..you'll be shocked, and pleased!!

Most welding supply companies have a variety of gasses.
Cl2 and SO2 aren't going to be there but H2 should as it is used in special processes and glass work.

I would like to buy a Kipps Generator but there are mostly small 100-250ml units sold, many of them in plastic.
A 1000ml Kipps apparatus would be more suitable, made of glass.
1000ml Kipps apparatus isnt found on ebay, and when rarely found they are expensive.
I see there are many producers of these in India selling on IndiaMart.
Anyone ordered anything from IndiaMart and did it work good, other good/bad experiences?
Prices seem to be really good, way better than ebay.
