Big shortage of chemicals

So guys,

I was wondering why my order at LaboratoriumDiscounter wasn't shipped after ten days or so. I sent them a mail, and they explained to me that due to the Covid crisis and also fires at chemical factories, some chemicals were in general shortage, amongst which propionic acid and propylene glycol.

Has anyone also experienced this?

PS: I swapped my order for propionic acid to methyl ethyl ketone, that I’m planning to do a haloform reaction with. That’ll give me propionate and chloroform, so it’s a fairly good workaround I think.

You could also buy calcium propionate and acidify. I haven't heard of a big shortage of chemicals. Maybe it is limited to that one supplier.

Neither had I up to that point. But they implied it was a worldwide condition…

Well, doing a haloform reaction with methyl ethyl ketone will also give me chloroform as a bonus, so it's like killing two birds with a stone! :)
