Did I get a fake platinized electrode?
I saw a “platinized” electrode for $15. I bought it, although I thought it might be too cheap for a genuinely platinized one. I know platinum can
catalytically break down H2O2 at room temperature. I dropped several drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide and nothing happened at all (see video ). Only
platinized electrode would survive several days in the chlorate cell but I wouldn’t prefer to spend this much effort to just prove or disprove
it’s fake. Is there anything else I can do as a quick test without having to set up a chlorate cell?
Thank you for the input.

15 bucks? definitely not platinized. Take the claimed platinum plating thickness, multiply by the electrode area and estimate the platinum volume,
then mass, then minimum price for that mass. If they are charging less, then is highly likely to be fake. There's no such thing as cheap platinum,
given the stuff is ~USD 1000/oz.
No real need for chemical tests - price alone is enough to know its a fake.

I am sorry to hear that . Try to return the product and make one your self . Buy
1gm of Pt and...
Water is dangerous if you don't know how to handle it, elemental fluorine (F₂) on the other hand is pretty tame if you know what you are doing.

Dissolve some in aqua regia and keep rest for plating Ti. There will be negligible change in Pt mass

That is not a simple process. The Ti mesh has to be thoroughly cleaned.

I just summarised the thing bro, no one does an experiment without research.
