Recent ridiculously cheap Chinese glass acquisition

Recently bought these very cheap from China. A 500ml Synthware addition funnel and a 1l 3 neck flask.

The 3 neck flask was only $4USD, and the 500ml funnel was $10USD
That's before shipping to the u.s though. It cost $10USD to ship the flask and $20USD to ship the funnel.

Overall I'm very happy with them. They both seem to be pretty good quality. And I actually recognize the Synthware brand. I probably wont use the flask under vacuum to be safe.

What awful glassware !

I think that you should dispose of that glassware as soon as possible
eg post it to whoever responds to your post first ;)

Water is dangerous if you don't know how to handle it, elemental fluorine (F₂) on the other hand is pretty tame if you know what you are doing.

Can’t speak for the random branded flask, but Synthware is the highest quality glassware I have ever used. Seriously, it’s better than Pyrex.

is it normal for cheap 500ml flasks to implode under vacuum? i hear about it now and then but, ive been playing around pretty haphazardly with my aspirator which when theres no gas being produced to counter the vacuum can pull just below -700mmHg.
I can understand a 1L one, but most of my glassware, besides a few extra thick flasks, is just cheap stuff from deschem, vevor, and no-name stuff, i do also have a few pieces from synthware but not flasks, anyway ive never had an issue, i always just thought, its about how thick the glass is, and thick cheap stuff might just be inconsistent and its hard to spot how the wall on one side might be thinner, so its the weak chain link rule for failure.

Can i ask where you got this for so cheap?

If they have defects, yes.
I've gotten no-brand Chinese RBFs before that had bubbles in them, which would definitely become a problem when under pressure, so that's why I want to be careful. This 1l I got probably is safe for vacuum, but since I have name-brand stuff I'll probably just use that to be safe.

I used the Chinese marketplace Taobao and had it shipped with a forwarder. Synthware has their own store on there. I wouldn't recommend it right now because of tariffs if you're in the U.S.

The synthware is likely fine, I have used it. The other rbf looks less perfect, but likely is fine. I have used US glassware and lots of other brands from many countries, even from India, which is slowly getting better at science glass. While some chinese glass is bad the Synthware seems pretty good and a few others are OK. The unbranded stuff is often horrible with bad joints.

You can get synthware stuff for a very good price from here. Free shipping worldwide, and if they don’t have what you need just give them the catalog number or a picture and they’ll add it. I’ve ordered multiple times and been very impressed with the quality and price.
