Who needs a centrifuge ?
I have recently purchased a larger centrifuge for my work and
want to donate my Hamilton-Bell Jr. Angle Model 1600 centrifuge to a
member. It has a fixed-angle rotor and holds 4 15 ml tubes. It occupies
less than 1 cubic foot of space, runs on 115 volt AC, maximum 3400
RPM. The only requirements I have is that the member live in the
continental U.S. and the member have a higher post count than me.
This means no KEWLS, LAMERS, and members who are brand new.
I'll pay to ship. First member meeting my criteria to post gets it !

Just kidding. I don't need one at all, although I'm sure I could
find SOME use for a centrifuge, like trying to filter molten sodium.
Oh wait, I'm disqualified! I live in ancient Persia.
This centrifuge ought to be given to a member who has been wanting one for an experiment badly.
I'm not against Polverone getting it though. He deserves it.
And it had BETTER NOT go to anyone who already has a centrifuge!

That's a very generous offer! I agree that one of our hardworking admins (including vulture) should receive this. A centrifuge is a valuable
component of any well equipped lab. If I had only one vote it would be for Polverone.

I've already communicated with Polverone and he wanted someone else
to have a crack at it. He says he'll take it if no one else does. As for shipping
to Vulture, I have no I idea how customs officials in Belgium would view
this.
As for my own work, I use a centrifuge to separate sub-micron aluminum.
This is the persistent material that refuses to settle out.
It is sub-micron and highly reactive.

I don't have any space for a centrifuge nor an experiment that demands it...
And I'm extremely paranoid about customs these days. The word centrifuge correlates to uranium enrichment (thank you very much Mr. Powell) these
days, so better not take the risk.
I say Bromicacid gets it, as he's one of the best contributors around here.
One shouldn't accept or resort to the mutilation of science to appease the mentally impaired.

Separations work sooo well with centrifuges!
Lol vulture, a benchtop centrifuge like that can most certainly NOT be used for U-enrichment. Did you look at the rpm? 3400! It's not that much,
particularly for a fixed angle one.
Still it's more than useful for separating any unfilterable precipitates from a suspension.

Yeah, i'll go for Bromic too. Chemeleo too maybe since a centrifuge can be use to separate cells constituant and he's working mostly in
biochemistry.

As I recall, the Bush administration became suspicious of Iraq for
wanting aluminum tubes. They claimed that such tubes would be
used in a CENTRIFUGE for the purpose of uranium enrichment.
Vulture, your point is well taken because we can expect the
non-science types to immediately suspect the worst.

I respectfully decline your offer.
Sorry to say, that despits its small size I really have no room for it. My shed is packed with chemicals and they are starting to spill over into my
room. I sleep with my hot plate under my bed, right where my head lays.
It's just that my use to space consumption ratio on it would be too low. I don't think I would use it as much as many people here think.
But, wow, so many people think I deserve this and that I would make good use of it. That alone is an honor. 
Regardless, there has to be someone around here that will use it, therefore, the hunt continues.

BromicAcid, you suffer from the same space problem that I do.
This is the reason I want to give this centrifuge away. There is no room
left under my bed for my gear. I've filled all of my closets and have
labglass all over the room. I even have a set of chest w/drawers that
have my condenser and retort collection in it. I don't need a house.
I need a mansion to store all of this stuff !
BTW, I got outbid on eBay for another centrifuge. I wanted it for the
swinging bucket rotor that's in it. These rotors do a much better job
than the fixed-angle rotors. I would have happily ponied up for the
whole centrifuge just to get that rotor. What comes around goes
around I guess. A bidding sniper got me in the last 2 minutes of
the auction. That's OK because I'm a prominent eBay bidding sniper.
I'll keep looking.
Back on topic - you said the hunt goes on. All somebody has to do is
claim it ! One thing's for sure - this centrifuge will not end up in the
trash. That would be a terrible waste !

If no one else will take it, i'll do. I still think that chemoleo disserve it more, but it could be a good aquisition to the lab i'm
currently building for myself, i'll find an utility.
I'm from Canada so if an american want it i'd grately let my place.

Initially, this is why I wanted to limit it to the continental U.S. - no issues
with customs.

I don't think there will be, i have ordered a lot of thing from the US with no problem. Canada/US don't have very strick custom.

Just wanted to back up BlindAngel's claim. I have ordered a bunch of stuff from the US and I've never had problems with customs (that is,
besides the fact that I had to pay customs fees, which are not a problem if it's sent as a gift...hint hint). Anyways, I say this because BA and
I live in the same province, so, no problems! Send it man!

1st, I must apologize to this entire forum for being a wanker. A year ago
I received an extremely nice set of heavy-walled beakers from an
eBay seller in Alberta, Canada. I should have realized then that
this transfer didn't have the problems I was worried about. I definitely
must apologize to the Canadian members of this board. The only thing
I can tell you is that sometimes I wake up with my head jammed up
my ass !
I must thank everybody, especially the admins and mods, and in particular
Polverone and Vulture for their honesty. It has also occurred to me that
the members of this forum are unselfish.
Anyway, I have 2 lab glass items I want to donate. Both came into my
possession as a result of buying "lots" of glass on eBay. Sometimes
I have to buy the "lot" even if it means getting the one piece that I want.
The "piece" is usually a condenser or a retort. I'm a connoisseur of
fine laboratory glass, especially condensers. Currently, I have 9
condensers and 4 retorts in my collection and I'm always looking for
additions.
Sorry for straying off topic. Both pieces are round bottom Florence
boiling flasks. No use to me because I have the larger 2 litre
model which I won't give up. Piece #1 is a 250ml with a #7 stopper.
Piece #2 is unusual - it's 500ml, made by LabGlass with a 45/50
opening. It takes a #10 stopper to plug this jug ! Both flasks are
frosted for distillation adapters.
I'll include the 1-hole rubber stoppers. Same requirements as the
centrifuge. Any takers ?

Trinitrotoluene, I'm sorry but you're too late. If you had read the
beginning of this thread, I shipped to the 1st member meeting
my requirements. Actually, this took some time because
most people responding were nominating others to receive.
I do however, have 2 flasks up for whoever meets the
requirements. And this time, Canadians are definitely in.
Sorry about the 1st time guys - I thought there might be a Customs
problem. I still feel like a total wanker for this given the fact a
Canadian shipped to me - without problems !
I'll live with my guilt !
