Mosquitos attractive frequencies
Hallo to all,
I'm looking for frequencies (possib. in hz) that attract mosquitos and/or other insects like that.
However, any info. (included sounds that chase away insects) are welcomed.
In attachment, I've posted a program that I made and that emits the frequency you enter in non-decimal numbers.
I am not responsable of injuries that this program can make. I've posted this functionally, if any modify has do, I am not responsable of this,
too. Have fun!

Hmm. Have you found any particular frequency the little bastards like? I have an old idea for a mosquito-attracting device as bate with a 230V grid to
fry them.. hopefully in great pain.

I know someone who did this with squirrel instead of mosquitoes (and using nut instead of frequency). It was called a Grill-Squirrel (not very
original i know)

Kazaa - I had a look at your source, as I used to program pascal myself. The sound procedure is wellknown of course - it produces the sound via the PC
speaker however. I don't know the code behind 'sound' but I am sure the qualitity is not remarkable, as I did the same thing once via
the soundcard, and it is much better there.
You can find Delphi components of this on the web.
As to the frequency - I don't know, but it is very high. You'll need a special high frequency loudspeaker for that, and a better
implementation than 'sound'. I am sure you can find the required frequency on the net. Easier prob. though to buy commercial devices, though
not as much fun.

Still, very interesting it is. If there was truly a specific sound frequency mosquitoes were drawn to, it would make hundreds of millions of
peoples's lives easier. Imagine sitting outside with a device that draws thousands of mosquitos to it, then frying them! There no way in hell
evolution could keep up with it, we would kill 'em all! Good thing too in my oh-so-very-not humble opinion. I hate mosquitos. And wasps. Find a
way to exterminate all wasps and I will... well, let's discuss that when it happens, OK?

I did some research on getting-rid-of-mosquitos some time ago. I doubt there is any frequency that will atract or reppel them. Unfortunatelly.
Those electronic devices are scams.
You can kill them with some kind of poison or repel them from your skin. The #1 repellant is DEET (god knows its chemical name). The only
"natural" repellants that really work are soybean oil (not very good) and catnip oil (apparently very good, also supposed to reppel
cockroaches). I planted some catnip in my garden, but could not get a crop. I guess the weather where I live is not good for it.
So, if you want to reppel mosquitos the "natural" way, you can smell like french fries or have your cat doing funny things to your leg.

When i was nine or so i remember my grand father told me that they used vineger to draw flies in a trap some 60 years ago. He described the trap to
me, it's like a flask with a conical impresion at its base. When the flies got in they wont know how to get out and eventuly drown in the
vineger. Attached is a drawing of what i think he meant.

Beer works even better, in those traps. We used to have it in our greenhouse. It works for flies, wasps and such, but unfortunately not on mosquitoes
- they seek the scent of sweet blood!
Still - I remember this little device in my bedroom when I ws about 7 years old - you plugged it in, and it would get slightly warm, and make a high
pitched noise, barely perceptible. This thing also emitted some smell.
This was supposed to work to kill them - and I had it in my room becuase I used to be quite sensitive to mosquito stings.
Anyway - it didn't kill them really (not all anyway - since I smelled WAY better than that device), and I still got stung.
The old pillow method turned out best - go mosquito hunting before you go to bed, and in case u miss one, let them come to you, let yourself be stung
(which u feel) and one good slap sends them straight to mosquito hell!

Chemeleo, did you have to put any liquid or matt into them? I have one and its completely quit but one I saw at my grandparents made that sort of
noise(used noisy coils or something maybe).
Anyone remember that rumor a couple of years ago about some program that put out a frequency through the speakers to keep mosqutios away?It was quit
well documented so that could be a starting point 
Going from memory it worked at around 21Khz.

No, no liquid had to be added.
Just a little device plugged into the power grid.
It just sat there, emitting a certain smell, and hopefully preventing mosquitos from biting me.
Anyway - that's why I think this whole idea has some credibility....

Must have been built in then as there was a smell.
BTW I did some googling and aparantly SL telelcom did some research into driving mosquto's away with the sound of a cell phone(sold as a ring
tone).It's the buzzinf sound of a male mosquito to keep the female(blood sucking)mosquto's away.Now that's pathethic for the male one
