Chemplayer has a procedure for making a mixed salt of KCN and NaCN that he (they) use for a variety of applications. Usually with CN you are mostly interested in the anion and the cation is immaterial. So, a mixture is not really a problem.

Not that I have done it myself (I have avoided CN compounds), but the procedure looks straightforward. I always figured that would be my route if I ever needed to go there.

Chemplayer is on bitchute. If you are stuck, there are threads here on making cyanides. Have a search and a read before attempting anything -- you will pick up a lot from folks more experienced than I am.

And be careful. Watch your pH. Fume hood, gloves, glasses etc. All the normal stuff, but this time it is important.

Couldn’t agree more. Do it outside if you can. And Chemplayer is also on the Internet Archive, which seems more long lasting than Bitchute.

A quick heads-up to anyone buying sodium bisulphate (pH Minus) sold by the ClearWater brand - it is apparently anhydrous, and not the hydrate, as I assumed.
I found this out when using it to make nitric acid. Not only did it stay solid above 55 °C, but the acid I made turned out to be a lot stronger than I expected.

There's a large variety of chemicals available at PerfumersWorld, including benzophenone, which is otherwise quite hard to find for amateurs.
Reasonable prices, dispatched very promptly, and once dispatched, FedEx got it to me within three working days, despite travelling literally halfway round the world (they're based in Thailand.)

The only catch is that the materials apparently don't come with any kind of hazard labelling or MSDSs.

While this is not a particularly cheap option for argon, it is OTC. These are sold as refills for a wine dispenser that displaces air in the bottle preventing oxidation.

Hugh Crane sells concentrated sulphuric acid to UK-based customers as Block Buster Drain Cleaner in 5 litre containers. Due to its hazardous nature, the postage, via DHL, is more expensive than the actual product itself. I ordered it as a private individual, and the only check carried out was age verification, which was automatically done at the point of purchase.

The MSDS lists its concentration as >96% w/w, and it appears to be azeotropic, with no obvious dyes or other additives. The product itself is slightly yellow, is much more dense than water, has a slight whiff of sulphur dioxide, and turns sugar into a hot foaming mass of charcoal - it's the genuine article for sure.

UK-based chemists can buy argon and carbon dioxide cylinders over the counter from Machine Mart, along with the appropriate regulator, which will fit 6 mm inner-diameter PVC hose. Both the Sheffield and Barnsley branches had all these items on the shelf as regular stock. You can also buy a stand from Screwfix, because they have rounded bases and they'll not stand up unsupported.

It's not a cheap way of buying gas, but it is a very convenient one.

Never heard of Bitchute - looked up cyanide and the first post I read is about the "evidence" that the holocaust was a hoax -

because some wack-a-doodle (a fake engineer who claims to be an execution methods expert) testifying for Ernst Zundell.... a crazy German landed immigrant from Canada (oh the shame) that we deported back to Germany...

seriously? a place for knowledge?
