What kind of advice are you looking for?
It is basically a short-path distillation procedure, wonderful for quick purifications of high moluecular weight or heat sensitive compound, and sublimations...Can only run a relatively small amount of material through at a time though...but reciprocating action can keep you excited for hours though, so happy distillations to all.

Are you looking for any specific advice???

Oh yeah, follow rot's advice...UTFSE!

The Kugelrohr distillation set up I have used is the Buchi semi-micro type. It can be used for fractionation of a small volume e.g. 1 to 15 ml starting liquid. The idea is short path distillation with thin film evaporation i.e. the kit rotates and there is no condenser. The distillation glassware is a train of bulbs/flasks. For the small scale stuff the bulbs are just blown in a glass tube and after distillation they are separated with a glass cutter. The bigger stuff are quickfit B10 or B14. A metal spring clip holds them together well.
The general procedure is to put the first bulb containing the distillate into the oven and find the temperature of the first distillate and then tranfer this to the last bulb/flask by move the train into the oven. The train is then pulled out of the oven and the temperature increased and the next fraction distilled along the train to the last but one bulb/flask etc. Four fractions needs five flasks, one for the residue.
Another procedure is to transfer all the distillate to the first bulb/flask to get rid of any residue and then do a distillation as above.
Hope that makes sense
